Well, the time has come. We are amidst boxes and disassembled furniture. We are working to be finished packing on the evening of June 27th. The movers come on the 28th, we sweep it clean and the next day it all passes hands. The kids are doing great, all things considered. They do not like to be left at school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and they seem to want a little more attention at night than usual. But they both talk about Florida and moving and recognize that our stuff will soon be on its way. The kids and I wandered downtown on Monday, Maxim on her bicycle and Noah by foot (mostly), and we found a colorful string of paper lamps and garlands at the local variety store. We hung them in the kitchen. A spontaneous idea that has somehow charmed the space for the past few day. We have to duck (the grownups of us) but we leave it hanging. The yard still need mowing, and with the rains, I calculate at least two more mows before we go. The swingset is being taken apart and packed on the truck, as are the sandbox boards. Most of the rest of the kids stuff is going up for sale at the yard sale tomorrow. We are winding down. Next weekend, one week from today in fact, we leave for the Cape a for a three-day camping weekend Marcela planned back in January. These years here have been kind to us, we are grateful and will leave with fond memories and heavy hearts.
